HP TUNERS STOCK READ & TUNE LOAD — 22-24 CUMMINS 6.7L
Install the software below before you do anything else on the truck. Never interrupt a write. A full flash takes around 8 minutes; leave the truck and the laptop alone until it says Write completed.
Getting a stock read and an info log off a 2022–2024 RAM 2500/3500 6.7L Cummins with an HP Tuners MPVI, sending both in so your tunes can be built, and loading the tunes when they arrive. Watch the video first: it walks through installing the HP Tuner in a RAM 6.7L at home.
Steps
1 Download and install .NET Windows Desktop Runtime 8
2 Download and install the latest VCM Suite beta
3 Open VCM Editor or RTD Flasher
VCM Editor is for an MPVI, and its files save as filename.hpt. RTD Flasher is for an RTD, and its files save as filename.rtd.
4 Plug the MPVI into the computer and the truck
Ignition in the Run position.
5 Click the green Read arrow
It is in the top centre of VCM Editor. If the Read button cannot be selected, choose File > Close to close whatever is open, then try again.
6 Select the modules to read, then save the file
Save it to your desktop with your first and last name and the VIN in the file name. Email it to your support rep and/or support@thedieseltechs.com along with an info log, which the next steps produce.
7 Click the VCM Suite Info button
In either VCM Editor or VCM Scanner.
8 Click the blue circle "i" icon to poll the software and the vehicle
Make sure the cable is connected to the vehicle and the key is in the ON position before clicking. This can take five to twenty seconds.
9 Save the info log and email it
When the info log finishes generating, click the Save icon and save it with your first and last name and the VIN. It is then ready to email with your stock read. Your tunes are built from these two files.
10 When your tunes arrive, open the tune file in VCM Editor
Click Open in the top left corner, find the tune file you want to load, and open it.
11 Write the tune to the truck
With the tune file open, click the red Write arrow at the top. In the writing box choose Write Entire and click Write.
The first time you write to this truck, VCM Editor may ask you to license the controller with your credits. Choose Specific and confirm.
12 Wait for Write completed, then cycle the ignition
A full flash takes around 8 minutes, a calibration-only flash around a minute. Do not disconnect anything while it runs. As soon as it says Write completed, cycle the ignition and the tune is loaded.
